Our History

Helmke Beams, LLP is a General Practice law firm dating back to 1926 when Walter E. Helmke founded the firm. The firm continues to reflect his basic philosophy of combining the private practice of law with public service and civic memberships. Public service has always been a tradition of this law firm. Members have served in various public law positions such as Prosecuting Attorneys, Attorneys for Allen County, Indiana and Attorneys for the City of Fort Wayne. Partners have also represented other public bodies such as school systems. Participation in civic and charitable organizations has also been a tradition for members of the firm. Members of the firm have been active with various non-profit and church related organizations including Parkview Hospital, H.O.P.E. For Animals, American Cancer Society, American Red Cross, Big Brothers - Big Sisters, United Way, YMCA, The Fort Wayne Rescue Mission, Child Care of Allen County, Concordia Lutheran High School, Concordia Education Foundation, Indiana Institute of Technology, Crippled Children's Society, Allen County Council on Aging, Park Center, Daybreak, Three Rivers Literary Alliance, Mental Health Association of Allen County and Greater Fort Wayne Chamber of Commerce. Firm Members have also been involved in Rotary, Kiwanis and the Fort Wayne Quest Club.
